Of Formalin Poisoning
---
The death occured of William Buchanan, from formalin poisoning, on Friday, October 21st. The deceased, a few days previous, had gone to the granary for some purpose and seeing a jug standing outside had taken a good drink out of it, being very thirsty and thinking it contained water. He had swallowed quite a little before he realised it was formalin. He could not be pursuaded to go to the hospital at once, and valuable time was lost, with fatal results to himself.
Deceased was 63 years of age, and came from New Westminster, B.C., he had been working on the Snowden farm in the Vandyne district. He was born in Scotland. He has one relative in this country, a brother who is resident in the States. The funeral took place on Sunday, interment being made in the Empress cemetery. Rev. N. W. Whitmore conducted the services.
Warning should be taken from this fatal mistake of the deceased to see that containers of poisons are properly marked and that they are placed in safe places out of the reach of unsuspecting individuals and of children. Such precautions would apply on the farm or in the home.
